According to OnSmash it has finally happened. After people marveling over the beast of a job that Russell Westbrook has done this season, stat wise, that big 41 is here. Russ has just tied Oscar Robertson‘s NBA single season record (1961-62) with 41 triple doubles in tonight’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Westbrook did it in the third quarter for the Oklahoma City Thunder, getting a rebound on the defensive end and turning around and converting it to an assist immediately after.
The crowd jumped to their feet and gave the man a standing ovation.
With only one left to beat make history, he is also currently tied for the the second-most active streak of triple doubles with 7. Michael Jordan is on that list, with Wilt Chamberlain holding the NBA record with 9 in a row. With one more, he’d be in sole possession of the No. 2 spot.
